How do the red and infrared light therapy works?

Red and infrared light therapy uses low energy light emitting diodes (LEDs) to stimulate cell function. 
Once absorbed, the light energy is converted to cellular energy.

Certain wavelengths of light enhance the functioning of mitochondria, which takes in nutrients, breaks them down and creates energy molecules for the cell.

This improves the functioning of the whole cell which results in starting a series of metabolic events such as improved healing, the reduction of inflammation, enhanced production of collagen and elastin, increased circulation and the formation of new capillaries and increased activity in the lymph system.

Depending on the condition you are treating, you can experience a reduction in symptoms from the 1to 3rd to the treatment session. But most of our clients are feeling an effect after only minutes.

The frequency of sessions depends on the condition, the severity of the condition and if it is being used in conjunction with other medicines.

Some treatment plans require use daily, others a few times per week.

Can Photizo red and infrared light therapy cause harm?

Unlike most conventional treatments, red light therapy is safe, non-invasive, uses no chemicals or drugs, and is not associated with harmful side effects.

How does it feel when using red and infrared treatment?

Accepted Answer

The majority of people won’t feel anything, but some have reported feelings of immediate relief, to a sensation of tingling and mild heat, minor itching and light aching.
It is beneficial to note that each sensation recorded has been minor.

What is the difference between Photizo and a traditional laser?

Accepted Answer

Although low level laser therapy and LED light therapy are both considered as Photobiomodulation, the main difference is in the way they deliver the light.

Laser light is coherent and LED light is non-coherent. 
The difference between coherent and non-coherent light is easy to see. If a bright flashlight with an incandescent or LED bulb is directed toward a distant wall in a dark room, the beam projected upon the wall will be diffuse and widely spread out. Yet if a laser pointer or therapy tool is directed in this way you will only see a tiny spot on the wall.

That is because the beam remains coherent over long distances.

Accepted Answer

The FDA has approved red and infrared light therapy for treatment of certain conditions. The Photizo Pain Relief device is registered with the FDA as a 510(k) exempt device.

What is the difference between red and infrared light therapy?

Accepted Answer

Red light is visible and is more efficient for use in the upper layers of tissues.
 Red light occupies the “long end” of the visible spectrum with wavelengths of 630nm-700nm.

Light in the near- infrared range of the spectrum can penetrate deeper to reach muscle tissues and nerves. 
Infrared lights have a longer wavelength than red lights, so they are better suited to reach deep into the muscles and bones. Because muscle cells absorb energy from near- infrared lights, they become more active and increase the flow of blood and fluid throughout the body.

Can you get too much red and infrared light therapy?

Overstimulation of cells with red and infrared light can slow down healing. 
Always refer to the instructions for frequency of use and how to treat.

Can red and infrared light therapy cause cancer?

Accepted Answer

No. There are no UV rays in red and infrared LED light therapy. 
Exposure to UV radiation is the main factor that causes skin cells to become cancer cells. Almost all skin cancers (approximately 99% of non-melanoma skin cancers and 95% of melanoma) are caused by too much UV radiation from the sun or other sources such as solaria (solariums, sun beds, and sunlamps).

Can red and infrared light therapy damage your eyes?

The red and infrared light will not damage your eyes, but it is advisable not to shine your Photizo device directly in your eyes, just as you never look directly towards the sun.

Does red and infrared light therapy work through clouds or other fabric?

Accepted Answer

No. Light is blocked by clothes. For best results the treatment LEDs should be in direct contract with the skin, unless treated wounds. Then the lens should be held a few millimeters away from the wound.

Do I need to do anything before using my Photizo red and infrared light therapy device?

Accepted Answer

Also clean the lens to avoid cross-contamination if the device is used by more than one person and when using Photizo Vetcare or Photizo 642 on any animal.

Does the Photizo red and infrared light work equally on every skin type?

Accepted Answer

Everyone’s skin is different. Some individuals show dramatic results quickly, while others may show less visible results over longer periods of exposure. 
All Photizo red and near-  infrared LED light treatment devices are safe and effective for all skin types and colors.

The Photizo Vetcare User Guide is available for download by clicking on the link below. 
To get started quickly, please follow these steps.
To turn on, press the power knob. The charging light is lit and the device beeps twice.

Apply the front LEDs to the treatment area as shown below.

After the processing cycle ends, it beeps twice and shuts down automatically.
The lens of the Photizo unit may be warmed with repeated treatment cycles due to the energy of the emitted light, and
the impact of photons in the treated area. If it becomes warm and uncomfortable to touch, stop treatment for several minutes to let it cool before resuming.
To shutdown the device during a processing cycle, press and hold the power button for 1 second. The power button LED can stay green for a short period after the treatment cycle has stopped.
When the battery is powered, the charger indicator light is lit in continuous green throughout the cycle and turned off when not in use.
When plugging into the mains power to charge, the unit will beep once and after a 3-second delay the power button LED will flash green until the unit is fully charged, at which point the LED will remain solid green.
